Bravery Trust are proud to announce His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia as our Patron-in-Chief.
“I am delighted to become Patron-in-Chief of the Bravery Trust,” shared the Governor General. “Australia owes a tremendous amount to our veterans. Our recent veterans are now part of the Anzac legacy that has played such a significant part in defining Australia’s values and character. They have served and they – and their families – have sacrificed.”

The Governor General himself has a distinguished 42-year military career, having joined the Australian Army in 1972, before graduating from the Royal Military College, Duntroon into the Royal Australian Infantry Corps. His career path in the armed forced culminated with an appointment as Chief of the Defence Force.
“We are honoured to have the Governor General David Hurley as our Patron-in-Chief,” notes CEO Belinda Wilson. “He has a comprehensive understanding of the military experience, and we are delighted to work closely with him to raise awareness of Bravery Trust’s purpose amongst both beneficiaries and the wider community.”
The Governor General reflects on military service, noting “we know that, for some, their service has brought challenges, physical and mental injury and hardship. I commend the work of the Bravery Trust, their staff and supporters in addressing these challenges. This work is invaluable and exemplifies the generosity, compassion and mateship to which we all should aspire. I look forward to working closely with Bravery Trust as Patron-in-Chief.”
