As we celebrate the virtual finish line of our 100km challenge, we say thank you to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) for your support of Bravery Trek.
More than 400 participants joined the challenge to run, walk or wheel 100km to support veterans who’ve been injured during service.
Bravery Trek has encouraged veterans and their families to get outside and be physically active, recognising the benefits of physical activity to improve mental health and general wellbeing.
Bravery Trust is a national military charity that provides financial aid, financial counselling and advocacy. 70% of those who reach out to Bravery Trust are aged 50 years or younger.
Quotes from Bravery Trust CEO Belinda Wilson:
“Bravery Trek has initiated many great discussions about what it means to serve and has helped to raise awareness about the support available through Bravery Trust if veterans are experiencing financial hardship.”
“Bravery Trust provides an immediate safety net for veterans facing financial hardship, but we also have a mission to empower veterans and improve lives. Our financial counselling service provides veterans and their families with new skills and the confidence to build a better future.”
“Bravery Trek raises much-needed funds for veterans in need. Importantly, it also helps spread the word about our services, and reach out to veterans who need help or those who know someone in need.”
“For those in a position to make a donation or to seek sponsorship from family and friends, Bravery Trek provides an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of veterans who are impacted by injury or illness sustained during service. Donations assist with medical and educational expenses, car repairs, housing costs and, in crisis situations, food and utility expenses.”
